Kent England has been working on this for a week as he makes this presentation.
Kentrox -- Three issues are resolved. Two are not. Those are the testing of the 34.3 Mhz HSSI clock configuration and the impact of small/large reassembly....
PAC*BELL will provide an FDDI service as a contengency. It is very simliar to what AADS will do in Chicago. ANS and MCI will attach there. PAC*BELL needs to convince to the ATM/FDDI. This will be operational in March, Kent hopes. The NSPs will have control of the routers that PAC*BELL will provide here. This may be different from the AADS plan. Kent estimates that this could operational for six months or more. There will be no rush to convert to ATM. Customers must be confortable that it works. PAC*BELL will buy everything, which is consistent with their current co-location policy. Kent has not yet considered the use of SMDS as an access technology. Contact kwe@cts.com or 619-632-8400 for information.
Testing the ATM NAP is still necessary. PAC*BELL will be testing Cisco DS3 AIP when it is available. ATM buffering and rate control issues will continued to be evaluated as ATM systems mature.
Bi-lateral peering agreements need to be in place.
